How to check your CIBIL Score Online for FREE?

Want to check your CIBIL score online? You are at the right place. Keep reading to know more about CIBIL score and how to check your CIBIL online for free.

CIBIL is one of India’s six credit bureaus and is one of the most popular for sure. Founded back in August 2000, they are actively involved in creating and maintaining credit profiles of Indians and assigning a credit score against each individual. This is popularly known as the CIBIL Score.

Well, some people mistake the CIBIL score for the credit score itself. It should be noted that besides CIBIL, other credit bureaus like Experian or Crif High Mark also assign their credit scores for each individual based on the creditworthiness of that person. These scores depend on the algorithms of respective credit bureaus and will differ from each other. This means you can have multiple credit scores, each from a credit bureau.

If you are using a Credit Card of any bank, or if you ever took a loan from any financial institution, then you definitely have a credit score from each credit bureau, including CIBIL. It is important to regularly check your CIBIL score (as well as your entire credit profile). Remember, the higher your CIBIL score, the better your chances are to get credit cards with higher limits or loans with better interest rates.

In today’s post, I will be discussing the CIBIL Score and how you can check your score online easily and for FREE (except one method, all other methods listed here are FREE of cost). Here’s an overview:

What is a CIBIL Score?

CIBIL Score is generally a customer’s Credit Score, a 3-digit number that can summarize the customer’s credit history and provide a numerical compensation or reflection of your credit history. This Score is put together from the former credit conduct, such as lending and repayment practices assigned by the banks and the lenders with CIBIL periodically.

This score is estimated by TransUnion CIBIL (Credit Information Bureau) Limited. It is the most famous and most accomplished credit bureau in our country India. It ranges from 300 to 900 and show the affluence or creditworthiness of a person. A score of 722 and below is regarded as “Poor,” a score above 748 is generally ‘Good‘ while going beyond 778 is considered “Excellent.” You can easily check your CIBIL Score through these mediums.

Check CIBIL Score through PayTM App (Free):

Well, just in case you are not interested in the paid option, you can use the PayTM App to fetch your CIBIL report for FREE.

Paytm is offering its customers to check their CIBIL score by entering the DOB and PAN card details. They used to provide Experian Score earlier but now switched to CIBIL. The good thing is that Paytm will not charge you anything to check the CIBIL score. To know the CIBIL score here, open the Paytm App, and search for Credit Score in the Search Box. Just click on the option ‘Free Credit Score,’ and you’ll be redirected to a form where you’ve to fill out your personal details like Name, Mobile Number, E-mail, and PAN Card Number and accept all the terms and conditions by clicking on the checkbox.

After this, press the Submit button. Now, click on the Yes, Proceed button to confirm and verify your Registered Mobile Number. After a few moments, you’ll have to enter some more additional details like your Gender and Pincode. And, then click on Submit Button. The next time onwards, you can keep viewing your CIBIL score by going to the Free Credit Score section every time. It will auto-update your score every month. This is one of the easiest ways to view your credit score and is my personal favorite.

Another good alternative is to check your CIBIL Score using OneScore App. It’s a very user-friendly app that fetches both your CIBIL and Experian Credit Score for FREE. It will also break down the credit report for you that will help you understand it properly.

The OneScore app is available on both platforms (for Android usersand (for iOS users). OneScore also offering its OneCard Metal Credit Card to some users as it’s still in Beta state. You can check your CIBIL score and apply for the metal Credit Card from inside the OneScore App. Here we’re describing the Android version of the App.

Install the OneScore app on your Smartphone from the Google Play Store. When you install the application, open the app, click on the Check My Score option, and enter that mobile number linked to your bank account. After clicking on the check box, click on the Get OTP option. You’ll receive an OTP to your linked mobile number, and after its verification, you’ll have to enter some details like your E-mail, First and Last Name as per your ID Proof and click on the Done option.

After entering some additional details like your Address, Gender, etc., click on the Next option. After a few seconds, you’ll get your CIBIL Score and the CIBIL Report. This report will also be mailed to your registered e-mail address.

The score will automatically update every month. So consider keeping the app installed to stay updated with your latest credit score.

Check CIBIL Score through Paisabazaar.com (Free):

How to check your CIBIL Score Online for FREE using PaisaBazaar?

PaisaBazaar is another great platform to check the CIBIL Score. Click on the following link to visit the Paisabazaar portal and check your CIBIL Score. You will be directed to a page where you’ve to add some personal details like your name, address, date of birth, PAN Card Number, etc.

After entering all the details in the given form, you’ve to click on the checkbox. Now, you’ll receive an OTP to your mobile number, which you’ve entered in the form. Enter the OTP and Verify your Mobile number. After this, click on the Get Free Credit Report button. Now, you’ll get your credit score and your CIBIL Report, along with some other details.

Well, just a disclaimer: Once you give your details to Paisabazaar, they will regularly send you pre-approved credit cards or loan offers. While this has an advantage that they will offer you premium credit cards with their tie-ups, which generally you would not have gotten, the sheer amount of calls and sms from their side will surely bug you after some time.

Wrapping Up The Things:

Credit Score is generated by your Credit Card’s transaction history and loans that you’ve taken from the bank. If you haven’t any credit card with you or haven’t taken any bank loan, you can’t get your Credit Score. So, it is necessary to get a credit card or loan from your bank to check your CIBIL Score.

All these methods are suitable for all types of users who want to check their CIBIL Score. But if you ask me, I will recommend the PayTM App or the OneScore App to check your credit scores. It is easy and user-friendly. If you are an HDFC Bank customer, consider using the HDFC Portal.

So, we’ve discussed how you can check CIBIL Score on different websites and apps. I hope I could clear all your confusion regarding how to check your CIBIL scores online and for free.
