Within days of Airtel launching the Internet TV, the hybrid set-top box for seamlessly watching online and offline content, Amazon India has launched its Fire TV Stick for purchasing in India. This Fire TV Stick is a small device like a Chromecast, with a remote to control it.
With Fire TV Stick you can watch videos from all popular streaming services online by plugging it into your HD TV.
Fire TV Stick Supports streaming services including their service of Amazon Prime Video. The other supported video streaming services include Netflix, HotStar, ErosNow, Voot, DittoTV, SonyLIV, VIU, Spuul, NexGTV, Hungama, Gaana, NDTV, and more.
In short, they have collected all popular audio and video streaming services in one place for you to listen to on a big screen.
In today’s article, I will discuss the Fire TV and let you know my first impressions about this device. So, let’s get started. Here’s an overview.
Features of Amazon Fire TV Stick:
Here is the list of features available on Amazon Fire TV:
- Supports Android TV, runs on FIRE UI.
- Stream videos from Amazon Prime, Netflix, Voot, Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV, Discovery+, ErosNow, Youtube, JioCinema, and more video content providers.
- Stream LIVE TV from DittoTV, NexGTV, and more.
- Watch YouTube Videos.
- Stream Audio Songs from Gaana, Hungama and more.
- Android App Store is available from where you can search and install Android TV Apps.
- Mirror Android Mobile Screen to TV, something that Chromecast does.
- Portable: Can be carried anywhere and plugged into any TV.
As you can see, Amazon Fire TV relies on Internet Connection to gather content for you. So, you need an active internet connection for this. The Fire TV supports Wifi so that it can connect to your existing wireless network. Amazon recommends a minimum internet speed of 4Mbps for a smooth video watching experience; else you may get buffering.
Similar to the Airtel Internet TV, the Fire TV device contains everything you need, and your HD TV does not need to have any feature except an HDMI port.
Wifi is included inside the Fire TV Device, so your TV does not need to support Wifi. This will work on any HD TV.
Another thing, this is not a set-top box, this is a small-sized Chromecast-like device. So, it does not play TV Channels offline (however, it has live TV support via online partners). Don’t think it as a substitute for your Dish TV.
Unlike Chromecast, Amazon FireTV does not depend on your Device to stream content. It’s on its own.
Amazon FireTV Stick Specifications:
FireTV runs on MediaTek Quad-Core ARM 1.3 GHz processor with a Mali450 MP4 GPU. It has 1GB Ram and 8GB internal memory for storing your content. Apart from Dual Band Wifi, it supports Bluetooth 4.1, by which you can connect your Android Device with your TV. It also supports Dolby Audio 5.1 surround sound. It is portable and weighs just 32g.
With Amazon Fire TV, you will get a Remote that supports Voice Recognition. You can also use the Fire TV Remote Application as a substitute for this remote.
Inside the package, you will get the Fire TV Stick and the Voice Remote, a Power Adapter, 2xAAA Batteries, and an HDMI Extender.
How to connect Amazon FireTV Stick with your HD TV:
Here are the simple steps to connect your Amazon Fire TV Stick with your television.
First, make sure your TV is an HD Ready TV. The easiest way to know that is to look at the ports at the back of your TV. It should contain the HDMI ports.
Now, open the FireTV Package, You will get the Stick. Connect the stick to the HDMI input of your television.
Now, there will be another place on the Stick to connect the charger. Plug it and switch the charger on. This will start the inbuilt Wifi of the Stick.
Now, connect to your existing Wireless Network.
Now, open the respective HDMI channel on your TV, and it will be linked successfully. Start exploring your content.
