Moto X4 Indian Edition Full Phone Specifications and Honest Opinions

Lenovo is all set to release their first Smartphone for 2018, the Moto X4. It will be a premium smartphone with a price of Rs24999. It will be on sale on Flipkart from 1st February 2018 onwards as a Flipkart Exclusive.

Moto X4 was first released in Q3 last year, 2017. But, it is now getting revamped, with a Hardware Upgrade including Processor Upgrade, Camera Upgrade, and Software Upgrade which will make the device stand out in the mid-premium range.

Well, Moto X4 will be the first Flipkart Exclusive Premium Smartphone for 2018. Just a few days ago, Honor 9 Lite was launched in Flipkart, with a budget price tag of 11k, that offered Dual Front and Dual Rear Cameras, and the latest Kirin 659 Chipset. Before that, we saw the Smartron t Phone P with a mammoth 5000mah Battery, and iVoomi i1, which is one of the cheapest devices with the new 18:9 Aspect Ratios. All these phones were kind of budget phones, that came out as Flipkart Exclusive devices.

Anyways, let’s talk about Moto X4 and find out what has been upgraded and what can we expect from it. Check out the features below.

Moto X4 Features:

The mobile Moto X4 got the Tagline: Faster, Smarter, Sharper, which means it has got a Processor Upgrade, RAM Upgrade, and Camera Upgrade for sure, from the last year’s Moto X4.

First things first, just like the previous variant, Moto X4 is a fully water resistant device with  IP68 Rating, so for those who fear occasional liquid spills, this device offers some protection. Kudos to Lenovo.

Moto X4 features a front and rear Glass Body with Aluminum frame. The display is 5.2 inches IPS LCD Capacitive. The fingerprint sensor is present just below the display.

Coming to the processor, it is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Processor, which is powered by an Octa-Core CPU with a Clock Speed of 2.2Ghz and the GPU is Adreno 508.

The phone will also get an upgrade in terms of RAM and will have a 6GB RAM Variant, in addition to the 4GB RAM Variant.

The internal storage will be 64 GB and it can be expanded up to 256 GB with an SD Card Slot.

Moto X4 supports Dual Rear Camera of 12MP + 8MP. The 8MP Shooter is an Ultra Wide Sensor. The Selfie Camera is a 16MP Shooter.

The Phone is Powered by a 3000mah Non-Removable Battery. It supports Motorola’s Turbopower technology which charges the phone quickly. You can get 75% battery with one hour of charge. 🙂

Moto X4 runs on Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box. As usual with the other Motorola devices, this one is also a Pure Stock Android Device. You won’t find any bloatware here.

It supports a 3.5mm Headphone Jack and has an FM Radio, both of which popular high-end phones tend to overlook.

All the other usual stuff like Bluetooth, Wifi etc are there. Read about them in the Full Specifications section below.

But, speaking of Bluetooth, it can connect up to 4 external Bluetooth Devices at once. So, you can connect to your smartwatch, Bluetooth Headphone, Bluetooth Speakers and even then pair with another device with Bluetooth. Or you can simply connect to 4 Bluetooth Speakers together or 4 Bluetooth Headphones together etc.

Also, it supports Moto Actions, a proprietary feature from Motorola on its different handsets that allows you to control the device without touching it.

Moto X4 Honest Opinions:

7.8 Total Score
Decent Mobile, with a Slightly Higher Price Tag

The phone comes with the latest Snapdragon 630 Processor with 6GB RAM which is a good thing. But again, the price at which it is offered at, if you add 5k to it you can get the Honor View 10 with Flagship Processor. So, I personally think 20k would have been a better pricing point for this device. Well, Waterproofing is one of the biggest Advantages of this device. Other than that, the stock android is an advantage here. Cameras have become better too.

Value for Money
  • Waterproofing
  • Good Camera
  • Oreo out of the Box
  • 6GB RAM
  • Price could have been a few thousand bucks cheaper

Moto X4 Alternatives:

Well, Moto X4 is priced at 25k which places it at a price point having alternatives from both lesser and more price range.

If you are not ready to shed 25k, you can check out Honor 9i, which is priced much below 20k and is powered by the Kirin 659 Octa Core Processor.

And if you are ready to shed a bit more, you can get a 2018 Flagship, the Honor View 10, which is priced at 30k. I suggest going for the Honor View 10 as it has a much better processor powered by Neural Processing Unit. It is indeed an AI-powered device.

Well, 2016 market was full of flagship devices between 20k and 30k. We had Mi 5, OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, Mi Mix, and a lot of other devices. But, in 2017, the flagship prices went up in the range of 30k and 40k, and created the gap in between the Below 20k Smartphones and Above 30k Smartphones. Moto X4 is one of the few smartphones to come out in that league, though it deserved to be a bit cheaper than that.

Anyways, I won’t confuse you further. Judge for yourself which device are you gonna take. 🙂

That’s all for now. I will be back with another interesting update soon. Till then, stay tuned!
