Reliance Jio New 100% Cashback Offer on Rs 1,699: Diwali 2018

Ahead of the Diwali festive season, Reliance Jio has announced a 100% cashback offer on all prepaid recharge plans of Rs 149 and above along with a long-term validity plan of Rs 1,699. The scheme called ‘Jio Diwali 100% Cashback Offer’ is both applicable for new and existing customers.

The new move may be Reliance’s Jio’s attempt to keep its customers from migrating to other telecom networks. Last Diwali, the company came up with a similar 100% cashback offer on every recharge of Rs 399 in the form of 8 vouchers worth Rs 50, which can be redeemed at one time against Jio recharges.

Reliance Jio Diwali 100% Cashback Offer:

Under this offer by the Mukesh Ambani owned telecom operator, customers will be getting 100% cashback offers upon recharge of 149 or above. The cashback will be given in the form of Coupons which can be found in the MyCoupons section of MyJio. Also, these coupons can be used at Reliance Digital or Reliance Digital Xpress Mini stores on a minimum purchase of Rs 5,000.

The Jio Diwali 100% cashback offer is available through online platforms like MyJio, as well as offline channels like Jio retailer, Reliance Digital Store. It is only applicable to Jio Prime members. The applicable plans are: Rs 149, Rs 198, Rs 299, Rs 349, Rs 398, Rs 399, Rs 448, Rs 449, Rs 498, Rs 509, Rs 799, Rs 999, Rs 1,999, Rs 4,999 and Rs 9,999,

It is to be noted that external hard disk drives from brands like Seagate, Western Digital, Sony, Lenovo smartphones from Xiaomi and Samsung, tablets from Samsung are some of the items excluded from the cashback offer. Also, the coupon cannot be used for gift vouchers of Cleartrip, KFC, Book My Show, and Google Play. And this offer is for prepaid recharge only.

How does the Cashback offer work?

As mentioned above, the cashback will come in the form of coupons. Recharges above Rs 799 will get more than one coupon and while recharges under that are limited to just one coupon whose price differs according to the recharge values. Like at a recharge of Rs 1,699 you will be getting three coupons of Rs 500 and one coupon on Rs 200. Similarly, recharge of Rs 999 will come with two coupons of Rs 500 each, Rs 1,999 will give four coupons of Rs 500 each, ten coupons of Rs 500 for a recharge of Rs 4,999 while recharging with Rs 9,999 will give you twenty coupons of Rs 500. The new offer will also give 100% cashback to the customers and will be available from October 18 and November 30, 2018, and the coupons received from this offer must be redeemed on or before December 31. This is the third annual plan from the company, the other ones being Rs 4,999 and R 9,999. However, the Rs 4,999 and Rs 9,999 plan do not come with a daily data usage limit.

Under the new plan, Reliance Jio is offering 547.5 GBs of data with a daily usage  limit of 1.5 GB per day after which the speed will decrease to 64 Kbps. The operating revenue saw an increased 13.9% to Rs 9,240 crore while the pre-tax profit went up to 19.6% to Rs 2,042 crore. Its operating margin stood at 38.7%.

The average revenue per user (Arpu) which is the usually used profitability metric in the telecom industry, declined marginally from Rs 131.7 to Rs 134.5 in June quarter attributed to the head of the strategy, Angushman Thakur who focused on the higher adoption of feature phones currently going for an introductory price of Rs 99.
