Infinix Smart 2 Full Phone Specifications and Honest Opinions

The online smartphone brand owned by Chinese Transsion Holdings- Infinix has launched a new smartphone in India this Thursday, on August 2. The company has made a very different approach with the newly launched Infinix Smart 2 by targetting the entry-level budget segment.

The Infinix Smart 2 is priced at Rs. 5,999 for the base variant and Rs. 6,999 for the higher end variant and will be available in four color options including City Blue, Bordeaux Red, Serene Gold and Sandstone Black. Not many good smartphones are present in this price segment, making it a constructive advancement by the company for capturing the low budget market. The device will go on sale starting from August 10 on Flipkart as an exclusive.

The Smart 2 will compete with the likes of Redmi 5A, Moto C Plus and 10.or D. The main selling points of the device are its contemporary 18:9 Display and the True Dual 4G VoLTE support which also differentiates it from the competition.

During the launch, Mr. Anish Kapoor, CEO of Infinix India said,

“As India is undergoing rapid technology changes with 4G LTE expected to be adopted by 85 per cent of the Indian market by 2018, hence, there is a pressing need for Dual-VoLTE smartphones in the budget segment.”

Now let us look at some of the Infinix Smart 2 Features and Specifications.

Infinix Smart 2 Features:

The Infinix Smart 2 is pretty light at 145g and comes with a removable plastic back that has a matte finish for better grip.

It sports a 5.45-inch ‘Full View’ display with a resolution of HD+ (720 x 1440 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display has a pixel density of 293ppi and maximum brightness of 500nits. The phone has 83 percent screen-to-body-ratio.

Under the hood, the device packs a quad-core MTK6739 Chipset from MediaTek, clocked at 1.5GHz. The device comes in two variants including 2GB + 16GB and 3GB + 32GB configurations. Looking at the chipset, it is clear that the smartphone is not made for gaming.

Interestingly, it is one of the few devices to sport a dedicated MicroSD card slot in addition to dual sim slots, therefore, the storage can be further expanded up to 128GB. The chipset also supports True Dual 4G VoLTE as seen on few midrange smartphones like the recently launched Realme 1 and the Asus Zenfone max pro M1, this allows you to use two 4G sim cards say Jio simultaneously.

For Photography, the Infinix Smart 2 comes with a 13-megapixel primary shooter with an aperture of f/2.0, PDAF and 5P lens along with a dual LED flash at the back. We have an 8-megapixel camera with an aperture of f/2.0 at the front for Selfies, which too is aided by a dual LED flash for low light captures. The Cameras are decently good for the price.

At the software front, the device runs on company’s own custom XOS 3.3.0 Lite Hummingbird skin on top of Android 8.1 Oreo which is a big let down for Stock Android lovers. The phone draws its juice from a 3,050mAh battery which the company claims of delivering up to 21 hours of 4G talk time on a single charge.

Infinix Smart 2 Honest Opinions:

6.8 Total Score
Good Device but market has better competitions

Well, whenever I state my opinion against any smartphone, I look at the hardware components and then I look at the price it comes for. And with Infinix Smart 2, I have only one thing to say, its no-doubt a good performing device under budget, but for the price tag it comes for, I will look out for other competitors in that price bracket. Places where I genuinely love this device include the dual 4G VoLTE support. Most of the flagship devices miss out that useful stuff. The camera combo is also great with 13MP Rear and 8MP Selfie Camera. It should take decent photos. Face Unlock is supported too.

Value for Money
  • Dual 4G VoLTE
  • Full View Display (18:9 aspect ratio)
  • 13MP Rear + 8MP Selfie Camera
  • Face Unlock in 0.3 seconds
  • 3k mah battery which is below standard for a dual volte device and most of the other devices in that price range have around 4000mah battery. Some devices even has 5000mah.
