Huawei Nova 3i Full Phone Specifications and Honest Opinions

The Chinese giant Huawei entered India back again after a 2-year gap with its recently launched Huawei P20 Pro and P20 Lite. Unfortunately, these smartphones didn’t go well in the country due to their high pricing. Now, rectifying its mistakes, the company has launched the new Huawei Nova 3i on July 26 with a strong motif to capture the sub-20K segment.

The Huawei Nova 3i was earlier unveiled at China on July 26 and now it has landed in India too, along with its elder brother Huawei Nova 3. It is priced at Rs. 20,990 for the single 4GB + 128GB variant and is available on Amazon as an exclusive.

The main highlights of the device are its looks and design along with the new Kirin 710 Chipset and Quad Cameras. It’ll be competing with the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and the just launched Honor Play from its sub-brand Honor.

Now let us look at some of the Huawei Nova 3i Features and Specifications.

Huawei Nova 3i Features:

The Huawei Nova 3i comes with a Notched Display and a glass back, similar to the Honor 9N, but with a gradient blue-purple finish which makes it very compelling to look at. Also, the device is pretty lightweight at 169 grams.

The Huawei Nova 3i sports a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display, having a resolution of Full HD+ (1080 x 2340 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 which results in a pixel density of 409ppi. The phone bears an impressive screen to body ratio of 82.2%.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the 12nm based HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz along with the Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. It is also equipped with Huawei’s GPU Turbo Technology for improved graphics and reduced power consumption.

The newly debuted chipset performs on par with the Snapdragon 660 found on the Mi A2 and Nokia 7 Plus, resulting in flawless gaming and multi-tasking experience. Furthermore, it packs 4GB of RAM and whopping 128GB of onboard storage.

In the optics department, the Huawei Nova 3i sports a dual 16-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup with an aperture of f/2.2 at the back, and another dual 24-megapixel + 2-megapixel setup with an aperture of f/2.0 at the front for bokehlicious selfies. Both the cameras are equipped with certain nifty AI features including the Smart Scene detection, HDR and portrait mode aided by the dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) present on the Kirin 710 chipset (first introduced with the Kirin 970). The phone comes with major upgrades in terms of cameras compared to the P20 Lite, making it one of the best camera phones under 20K.

On the software front, it runs on EMUI 8.2 layered on Android 8.1 Oreo which is not something that will be appreciated much by the Stock Android lovers. Moreover, the phone draws its juice from a 3340mAh Battery which will easily get you through a day or so on a single charge, but unfortunately, it doesn’t support any sort of fast charging protocols.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm Audio Jack, MicroUSB 2.0 and a MicroSD card slot for further storage expansion up to 256GB.

Huawei Nova 3i Honest Opinions:

7.9 Total Score
AI Rocks 😉

2018 is the year of AI, and Huawei has taken the step further by implementing AI capabilities throughout their device. From the 16+2MP Rear to 24MP+2MP Front Camera to the software, AI is everywhere. AI will also suggest you relevant apps, tasks to do, recognize pictures with a tap and even create 3D Emojis. Kirin 710 is a 12nm Chipset, which, though not a flagship, can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. It supports dual active VoLTE, which very few devices support till now. The build is really good, with a premium in-hand feel. Face Unlock is supported too.
