Home Screen Customization:

Perhaps the biggest change that iOS 14 brings is the visual overhaul. Apple has now added new ways you can customize the home screen of your iPhone. With native support for Widgets on the home screen, users can now add them in different sizes. Another way you can customize the home screen is by using Siri Shortcuts.

With Siri Shortcuts, you can create custom icon designs and enhance the look and feel of your home screen. Icon packs are now trending on the App Store since people have started taking their customization further by combining custom widgets and custom icons. Here are some of the examples.

One such developer who created custom icons for iOS 14 made over $100,000 within a week. This shows how popular iOS 14 has become and how quickly users are exploring new ways of customizing their iPhones.

App Library:

With iOS 14, users now have access to an App Library which contains all the apps in separate curated folders. You can also view the apps in the list view by swiping down the screen while accessing the App Library. With the addition of this feature, you also have the ability to hide pages on your home screen. This makes it easier for you to access the App Library without having to swipe through all the app pages. Users that like a clean and minimalistic look have appreciated this feature a lot.

Picture-in-Picture Mode!

Now, this might sound like something Android users have used for years, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode has now finally arrived for the iPhones. Users can now view YouTube videos, movies, TV Shows, and basically, any kind of video in PiP mode while doing other tasks like maybe writing something on the Notes app or typing an email.

New Features in the iMessage Messages App:

The Messages app, which was previously known as iMessage, has got a bunch of new features too. Users can now pin up to nine contacts on the top to access them quickly. Apple has also started segregating the messages by using an SMS filter. These are the new subsections that filter out messages. You can also tag your friends in group chats now.

Users can now also reply to specific messages. Apple’s way of doing this is quite different from what we have seen in other messages platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram.

Default Browser and Mail App:

Apple is now finally letting users set a default browser and mail app other than Safari and Mail. However, Apple is still limiting whose app can ask you to be the default one. In an interview with MKBHD, Apple’s Senior Vice President Craig Federighi told that different apps might fool users to be the default browsers and then initiate shady things like forced redirecting and more. For now, popular browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, and more can bet set as default browsers.

To do this, head over to the settings and then go to Chrome (or any other browser you have installed other than Safari) and then tap on the “Default Browser App”. Upon doing so, you will see a list of apps that can be set as your default browser. Select the one you want and you are done.

To do this, first, go to the settings > Camera > Record Slo-mo/Record Video > Video Format Control and enable it. Now whenever you are shooting a slo-mo or a normal video, you can click on the top right section of your screen to change to video format.
